The Summit of Carrantuohill

Devils Ladder

The ridge to the Summit

           Carrauntouhill

We could not have Picked a better day to climb Irelands Highest Mountain air temp was just right for climbing as we arrived at cronins Yard at 10.30am and made our way up to the Devils Ladder we were thinking of doing Oshea Gully but so many people were heading that way we passed it up,

The Devils Ladder is a Steep rocky ascent and took as about 20mins to reach the shoulder where the views were i have to say amazing even if the cloud was circling just above us.

Then we made the right turn at the top of the Ladder taking 1 of  2 routes that all lead to the Summit with the cloud still not wanting to clear, made for pretty boring photos's of clouds ( only of interest to Meteorologists ) we were going to continue around the horseshoe but the cloud never lifted while we were there.

So we headed back down to the top of Devils Ladder and then headed up over towards the Descending path know as the ZigZag making out way back down in to the Hags Glen.

At the top of the ZigZag.

This was a great day out with great company the only shame is we did not do the full Circuit that we had planned to do.

Well we will just have to come back another day :)
