 Knockastakeen, Galtees

I

Started off this Morning at the Lough Muskry Trailhead at Rossadrehid weather was in top form as i head up though the forest making my way to the gateway into the moor, getting my first glimpse of the ridges of Greenane and Farbreaga which were looking fabulous with the White fluffy Clouds just rolling over the top like froth sliding down the side of a Cappuccino cup .

I continued to follow the path for about ten minutes then i take a right off the track heading into the deep Heather ( which got a confused look from a couple other hikers ) making my way up the side of Knockastakeen till i make the ridge line.

Batting though the Heather i have to say was not easy but then again i have always liked taking on a different  route somewhere that not many other people have walked , from now on it is as stroll up to the top ( that my daughter calls the lunch rock ) these large glacier formed rocks jut out from the top and standing on top of them make for some breath-taking views across the Galtees.

I decided to park up here and do a time-lapse ( to follow shorty )  and just sit back and  soak up the views on what was a outstandingly perfect day, no one around just me and mother nature.

The weather turns

With the clouds starting to roll in i make my way back down the ridge they  way i came but now veer to the left making my way down to the forest spotting a gate in the far corner leading me to the Waterworks and to the return track to the Lough Muskry Trailhead

Distance was around 9kms and total walk time 2 1/2 hrs but i spent 2 1/2 hours just sitting there taking it all in.
